Service matters
As part of the Yorkshire's commitment to provide you with excellent customer service, we continually look for improvements to our processes.
Telephone Channel
The Yorkshire has recently launched a new automated telephone service for simple, common everyday queries, such as balance enquiries, checking your recent transactions, making a card payment for your mortgage and requesting a change of password for online accounts.
The service is completely secure and enables you to contact us at your convenience – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's easy to use and you will be prompted throughout - all you need to hand is your account number. Once you have used the service you will be given the option to leave feedback. Let us know what you think so we can continue to review and make improvements to our service.
In September 2009 we introduced the ability for members to open Yorkshire Fixed-Rate Bonds fully over the telephone, with no form to fill in, no need to visit a branch and the facility to deposit funds over the telephone.
This means that for those customers who find it difficult to get to branch or who do not have internet access, it's now easier to take advantage of these savings offers. From giving us a call to having your bond open can take as little as 10 minutes - and you may even be able to deposit into your account straightaway using your debit card.
Following the success of this, customers can now apply for a Yorkshire Building Society ISA over the phone. ISAs are sold under a very similar process to bonds, meaning you can complete your application in around 10 minutes - great news for customers who've not yet taken advantage of their tax-free savings allowance and don't want to miss out a moment longer! Once you've applied, it's simply a matter of signing your application and sending it back to us with your ISA subscription.
We've also extended our telephone bonds offering to the Barnsley. This step means that Barnsley customers can benefit from the same quick and easy process, and will take the Barnsley beyond the Yorkshire region.
