Check your cheques
The rules for accepting cheques at bank and building societies have changed from 30 September 2006, to safeguard against fraud on accounts.

So how should I write cheques for my Chelsea savings or mortgage account?Any cheque made payable to 'Chelsea Building Society' should also include your names(s) and/or your account number eg 'Chelsea Building Society RE Mr and Mrs Smith' or 'Chelsea Building Society RE 12345678'. Please also draw a line through any unused space so unauthorised people can't add extra account numbers or names.
