Chelsea's call centre goes red for Red Nose Day 2007 - The Big One!
8 March 2007
Chelsea's Call Centre mans the Red Nose Day Donation Line
Chelsea Building Society's Head Office in Cheltenham will be turning red for the night as it will be acting as Gloucestershire's only call centre for Comic Relief. To officially start the calls on the evening Adam Balding from Gloucester Rugby Club will take the first call at 7pm.
Volunteers from Chelsea Building Society in Cheltenham are donating their services for Comic Relief night to help man the Red Nose Day '07 Donation Line and raise large amounts of money for the charity. Comic Relief relies on the support from corporates to help them raise the large amount of money they do.
The 80-strong team will be taking calls throughout a live seven-hour TV extravaganza on BBC ONE, hosted by Jonathan Ross, Lenny Henry, Graham Norton, Russell Brand, Davina McCall, Chris Evans, Fearne Cotton, Harry Hill and Kate Thornton.
Chelsea will be one of 146 call centres across the UK taking donations on the evening. Even the clash with Gold Cup Day isn't putting staff off volunteering. The night promises to be great fun with the call centre taking calls from donors from 6.30pm until midnight. On the night the volunteers have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win tickets to a film premiere; they will have lots of food and drink throughout the night, kindly donated by many local shops, including Sainsbury's in Oakley.
'We were delighted to be able to offer our state of the art call centre and staff to Comic Relief', commented Richard Hornbrook, Chief Executive of Chelsea. 'We hope that we can help Comic Relief make this Red Nose Day a big one'.
On the support from call centres, Jan Brown, Comic Relief's Campaign Logistics Officer said: 'Chelsea's Call Centre is one of a big team of call centres taking donations and we'd like to say a massive 'thank you' to all the staff that have given up their Friday night to Comic Relief. We also want to thank BT which is again providing the infrastructure behind the record-breaking telephony system.'
