Chelsea staff take on a mountain of a challenge!
A group of 7 brave staff from Chelsea Building Society in Cheltenham are embarking on a challenge to climb the 15 highest mountains of Wales in just two days.
The team of staff from IT Services are taking part in this courageous challenge to raise vital funds for Chelsea’s staff charity of the year – British Heart Foundation. The group hope to raise £2,000 from their challenge climbing the only mountains in Wales above 3000ft, a challenge not to be undertaken by the light hearted. The mountains cover 3 ranges and the group have hired 2 professional mountain guides to assist them.
“We have all been training hard for this event. Most of our weekends are spent running, cross training and doing practice walks” said Gary Freeman, the groups most experienced walker/climber who has undertaken many previous challenges, including the highest mountains in Europe and Africa. “I wanted to create a challenge that would be a team event for the department and would help push people to attempt something they wouldn’t have tried before. We are all really excited about it and we know it is going to be exhausting. Knowing it is for such a great cause will keep us going during the tough times”.
The trip will be happening on 29 and 30 September, to sponsor the intrepid team, visit www.justgiving.com/15x3000ftpeaks to make your donation.
