Strong show of support for Chelsea
27 March 2008
Chelsea Building Society today held its 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM) near its head office in Cheltenham. Over 21% of members voted; a consistently high turnout for the fourth year running. Once again each vote has helped raise money for charities, with 10p being donated for each postal vote received and 20p for each online vote.
“We are delighted with such a fantastic member vote” said Richard Hornbrook, Chelsea’s director and chief executive. “This proves that member confidence, interaction and communication remain strong at Chelsea. I’m also extremely proud to be able to donate over £10,000 to worthy causes as a result of our members voting in such numbers.”
For the fifth year in succession Chelsea members had the opportunity to vote on the Directors’ Remuneration Report, with over 91% voting in favour an increase in previous years5.
